Sr. Assistant Store Manager

Sr. Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store Manager in managing the total store to maximize sales, Guest satisfaction, presentation and profitability and to minimize inventory shortage. To serve in the role of Store Manager at times when the Store Manager is not present.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales

Assist the Store Manager in achieving planned sales and profitability by effectively merchandising the store, exceeding Guest expectations, leading the store team and controlling expenses

Drive store’s Credit Applications, Magazine Subscriptions, Style Circle programs to achieve goals
Know sales goal, actual sales and trends to achieve and exceed plan
Ensure promotions are set and markdowns are taken in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner
Ensure proper execution and maximize productivity of key programs such as Tuxedo, Gift Card, and Gift Wrap

Guest Satisfaction/People

Ensure highest level of Guest Satisfaction is always provided

Ensure that the store is properly staffed by supporting recruitment of associates and active interviewing. Maintain a quality of work environment that encourages the retention and development of Associates
Coach associates by prioritizing and delegating daily work assignments, giving timely feedback and recognition for individual performance development
Assist in the writing performance appraisals for the individual development of associates
Implement and adhere to company’s Guest Satisfaction standards, and insist every Guest is acknowledged, thanked, and invited to return
Adhere to the guidelines of No Complaints Program to create a pleasant shopping experience for every Guest
Maintain a high level of personal motivation and integrity, setting an example for others
Ensure courteous and professional handling of returns
Provide training on a continuous basis using company training programs to ensure understanding and compliance of all associates
Communicate relevant information regarding job responsibilities, goals and company objectives to associates
Delegate and assign associate duties fairly and follow-up on assignments
Evaluate and provide feedback to assistant managers, supervisors, sales associates, beauty advisors and sales support associates
Ensure consistency, fairness and proper documentation to improve associates’ performance
Submit management work schedule to district manager on time and personally adhere to schedule as well as adhering to the weekly base schedule hours

Presentation

Maintain high level of merchandise presentation to company published standards and best practices

Ensure daily adherence to standards across all families of business (floor plans, adjacencies, density of merchandise flow, etc.)
React to all current direction and update merchandise presentation accordingly
Utilize visual tools to create exciting walls and windows per Quarterly Visual Merchandising instructions floor plans

Operations

Maintain and uphold standard of “Cleanest Store in Town” throughout the store including sales floor, bathrooms, fitting rooms, offices (Team One), wrap stations, associate break room, stockrooms, receiving and storage areas

Manage weekly/monthly payroll and non-payroll (electricity, supplies, etc.) expenses in line with budget and sales rate
Work with Store Manager and District Manager to develop and execute plans for store to improve profitability, greater productivity and efficiency
Count and record all store funds daily, prepare bank deposits, prepare cash drawer funds, verify totals and count receipts

Asset Protection

Protect store assets and hold shrink below Company’s shrink goal by ensuring all security policies and procedures are followed

Monitor fitting rooms and high risk areas of store
Comply with Store Operational Control Audit, Price Audit, Return Management and Fragrance Shrink Reduction initiatives
Ensure compliance with procedures for receiving, shipping, sorting, and processing freight
Ensure proper store opening and closing procedures are followed and that store is secure at time of closing
Ensure damages are completed according to procedure and shipping deadlines
Ensure retention of records and files as directed by procedures

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Proven track record of supervision and development of hourly Associates in assigned area by training, mentoring, assigning duties and providing recognition to accomplish the company objectives

Manages associate relations and delivers appropriate resolution; in partnership with Store Manager and Human Resources Business Partner
Must be 18 years of age, or older
Associate degree or equivalent of retail management experience
Must provide open availability for scheduled work shifts as business needs dictate, including nights, weekends and holidays
Maintains confidentiality of store financial, sales and company information at all times
Ability to stand and continuously perform essential job functions for up to six hours
Available for relocation for future career opportunities is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to read and evaluate merchandise presentations and other reports

Must be able to communicate effectively with Guests, associates, job applicants, etc.
Must be able to stand and walk continuously for up to 6 hours
Must be able to climb a utility ladder to reach shelves and walls that are as high as 9 feet
Must be able to bend down to handle and move merchandise and other objects
Must be able to grasp, lift and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs
Must be able to grasp and manipulate small objects, such as pricing or security tags; must be able to use a pen and/or a keyboard
